My review and perspective on model: Dyson DC25 Animal vacuum cleanerThis is the Dyson DC25 Animal Ball-Technology Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review please check the reviews page for a comparison of other vacuum cleaners.
The Dyson DC25 Ball Animal is a favorite among many of my customers. Dyson really is quickly becoming one of the most affordable mid to high end vacuum manufacturers on the market. And I can generally recommend them to most people who vacuum more than once a month as they will pay for themselves over time. A Dyson isn't all shine and glamor though, they do require a small amount of work to keep them running like new. Luckily unlike many cheaper brands they can be kept running because they are durable enough to be serviced. Dyson really became famous with their commercials that claimed that they never lose suction. While this is true, it's kind of tricky advertising. A Dyson never loses suction at the motor, but it can clog and lose suction long before it arrives at the motor. What Dyson is referring to when they say that their vacuums never lose suction is actually their system of multiple suction points. Even their large upright vacuums suction line from the motor splits into several smaller suction points before reaching the dirt cup. This design is ingenious as it not only allows for one port to clog leaving the others free but it truly does create more suction. As we learned in science class fast flowing fluids creates low pressure, and low pressure is what we perceive as suction in a vacuum. So the idea of necking down the suction tubes to smaller tubes creates very fast moving air, in turn making a huge low pressure zone, for more suction than your average vacuum. The bad thing about this design is that while it gives several bypasses for clogs it aids in the clogging process with smaller easier to clog tunnels the dirt can potentially travel into. You should watch out for this if you decide to purchase a Dyson. This is essentially the exact same machine as the Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors, the real difference comes in the brush roll. The Dyson DC25 Animal Ball has a brush roll specifically designed for picking up animal hair out of carpet, this will be a disadvantage to those with hard wood floors and you should take a look at the Dyson DC25 Ball All-Floors model.
The overall rating on this vacuum is brought down by the price, and the slightly smaller dirt cup. The cheapest I've seen one of these is for $400 and some places sell them for much more. While it is a good vacuum it's no Kirby when it comes to longevity, versatility, and pure suction power. Sure you couldn't touch a new Kirby for $500 but many used Kirby's sell right in that range. If you're looking for a good vacuum and don't mind minimal maintenance between cleanings and don't want the weight of a used Kirby then this Dyson DC25 is where you should look. Many people also complain about the Dyson DC25's smaller dirt cup as compared to other Dyson models.

Equipped with Dyson's signature Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner easily twists and turns around furniture and obstacles for thorough cleaning throughout the house--no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. Its ball design encapsulates the machine's powerful motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. Designed for homes with pets, the unit's motorized brushbar features powerful bristles that remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, while its mini turbine head thoroughly cleans confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car. It also supplies a quick-draw Telescope Reach wand, which expands to offer 16 feet of reach for stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction.
For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit's hygienic 1/3-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied. Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 220 air watts, a 24-3/5-foot cord, a maximum reach of 40-2/7 feet, and a lightweight design at only 16-1/8 pounds. On-board accessory tools include a combination tool and a stair tool attachment. The vacuum cleaner measures 12-1/5 by 15-2/5 by 42-2/5 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.
The Dyson DC25 Animal is a Commercial vacuum designed for use in the Commercial environment. I have reviewed it accordingly, the price point of the Dyson DC25 Animal is set for the Commercial industry which should be taken into consideration when purchasing or thinking about purchasing this vacuum. Commercial vacuum cleaners may be built to last longer and endure more abuse, but are more expensive and may be lacking some of the luxuries (such as light weight, or low noise) that you are accustomed to. On the contrary Residential vacuums are made at lower price points, lower quality, but are often lighter and quieter to use.
