My review and perspective on model: 437AZ vacuum cleaner

This is the Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review please check the reviews page for a comparison of other vacuum cleaners.

For a dirt cheap (excuse the pun) vacuum cleaner the Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner is one heavy lifter! It's Eureka, so you know they stand behind their name, then you might notice that ever since Eureka purchased Sanitaire the Eureka vacuum cleaners have been getting a lot of bonuses that you won't see from other brands at the same price range. It seems the commercial vacuum cleaner company Sanitaire taught Eureka a trick or two.

One of my favorite features of the Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner is the power brush for the hose. This is an air powered brush roll for your stairs and upholstery that from other companies can be an extra $40 - $70 so there in itself the air powered brush roll for stairs just about pays for your entire vacuum cleaner! The design is such that it is powered by suction, the brush roll is driven by a heavy duty belt with teeth so it never slips, never breaks, and since it is powered by suction it will allow the brush roll to stop if it is caught instead of destroying the unit. These air powered tools are invaluable, I've installed $5,000 central vacuum systems that have motors larger than this entire vacuum cleaner that leave dirt behind because they do not agitate the carpet, spreading the carpet fibers to allow the suction to do its job and pick up the dirt buried deep down. Anyone with stairs in their homes will LOVE this unit.

The adjustable handle, and unique circular handle shape allow this vacuum cleaner to be used by people of all sizes, even children. It also makes it easier to switch positions as you go under furniture and around corners.

So now the cons... It is a cheap vacuum cleaner, so you might want to know that the case is rather flimsy plastic, and the brush roll is also plastic. This will significantly decrease the lifespan of your vacuum cleaner. However, with a gentle hand, and a good vacuum service technician in your area you potentially could keep this vacuum cleaner for several years to come. Some will also have issue with the lack of sealing power to this machine. Not saying that it will blow dust when you first purchase it, but most of the connections that dirt travels through are plastic to plastic and will wear over time. And it does not have a HEPA filter, shouldn't be a problem for most people, as HEPA is mostly an over priced hype show to tag one more "certification" onto a vacuum cleaner and get you to pay more money for something that will make little or no noticeable difference in real world applications.

Model: 437AZ Product Description

Eliminating the need for two separate vacuums--one for thorough cleaning and one for quick-and-easy touchups--the Eureka Optima has all the power, features, and performance of a conventional upright coupled with the light weight and convenience of a stick. Where the Optima doesn't cut corners is suction: at just under 12 pounds, this machine can out-draw units twice its weight, and its HEPA filter captures more than 99.9% of dust mites, pollen, and other allergens for cleaner indoor air. Its 12-amp dual- motor system devotes one motor to suction and another to turning the rotating brush roll, which can be switched all the way off for gentle cleaning of hardwoods and other delicate surfaces.

Power and features of an upright at 1/2 the weight

The unit's bag less construction eliminates the hassle and expense of disposable vacuum cleaner bags, and its comfort-grip looped handle has 13 different adjustable positions customizable to all users in the family, from the shortest to the tallest. You'll enjoy cleaner indoor air with the HEPA filtration system that captures over 99.9% of dust and allergens.

Surprisingly versatile for such an inexpensive machine, the Optima also comes with a good selection of onboard tools, including a dusting brush and crevice wand as well as Eureka's unique Power Paw. This handheld attachment features a powerful brush roll to remove ground-in dirt and pet hair; its "Riser Visor" shield flips up and down to convert from vertical to horizontal cleaning on surfaces from stairs to upholstery. Suction control allows users to direct power from the floor nozzle to the hose, resulting in a stronger, dedicated airflow in both modes.

Ideal for cleaning the whole home from the floor to the ceiling.
The Optima is a perfect addition to your home as it represents a unique blend of power, ergonomics, and ease of use at a reasonable price point. And while the unit is rather narrow, its excellent maneuverability and small footprint when stored more than make up for the reduced cleaning path. The Optima comes fully assembled; it measures 13 inches wide by 15 inches long and stands 44.5 inches tall and is backed by a one-year parts-and-labor warranty.

The 437AZ is a Residential vacuum designed for use in the Residential environment. I have reviewed it accordingly, the price point of the 437AZ is set for the Residential industry which should be taken into consideration when purchasing or thinking about purchasing this vacuum. Commercial vacuum cleaners may be built to last longer and endure more abuse, but are more expensive and may be lacking some of the luxuries (such as light weight, or low noise) that you are accustomed to. On the contrary Residential vacuums are made at lower price points, lower quality, but are often lighter and quieter to use. Please feel free to add your own perspective of the Eureka Optima Lightweight Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review.
