My review and perspective on model: UH70210 vacuum cleaner

This is the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Rewind Plus Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Review please check the reviews page for a comparison of other vacuum cleaners.

This is a nice vacuum with lots of features. What you really need to look at is the automatic cord rewind. Great when it works, but it has a tendency to pull the cord in when you're vacuuming making it hard to push. Then when you want the cord to go back it can be a pain especially after a few years when the springs and plastic catches wear out.

A nice little bonus you will get with the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Rewind Plus Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner is an air powered stair and upholstery cleaning tool. These types of units often retail for $70 by themselves from a lot of places. This allows you to vacuum your stairs with a powered brush roll, something that is a rarity with most vacuum cleaners. The design is such that it is powered by suction, the brush roll is driven by a heavy duty belt with teeth so it never slips, never breaks, and since it is powered by suction it will allow the brush roll to stop if it is caught instead of destroying the unit. These air powered tools are invaluable, I've installed $5,000 central vacuum systems that have motors larger than this entire vacuum cleaner that leave dirt behind because they do not agitate the carpet, spreading the carpet fibers to allow the suction to do its job and pick up the dirt buried deep down. Anyone with stairs in their homes will LOVE this little extra, also obviously for people with pets who won't stay off the furniture it will get stubborn hairs up better than a hose by itself.

Another item specifically for pet owners is not only a HEPA filter, but an added carbon layer to the HEPA filter. The HEPA filter is rinse able, but will need to be replaced occasionally if odors are noticed since carbon can only absorb odors for so long before it becomes saturated.

I used to be able to recommend Hoover as the best vacuum cleaner around. Hands down if someone asked me what vacuum they should buy I could honestly look at them and say "Find a Hoover in your price range" and the issue was closed. They used to have a wide variety of vacuums for every type of home and each one was made at top quality. All of that has changed, they moved to Mexico for lower production costs but maintained their quality for a while, still not able to compete in the market though they soon sold all patents and the Hoover name to China.

Not all Hoover vacuum cleaners are bad, but they're far from the high quality standards throughout their entire product line that they used to be. This Hoover Windtunnel vacuum is one of those that I would put into the "not my favorite" categories. The attached hose is flimsy and easily kinked, and how it connects has a tendency to cause clogs that I frequently repair for people. It also has the feature that I dread most from low cost vacuum cleaners today and that is a plastic brush roll. It's hard to find a vacuum in this price range that doesn't have one, but what they all end up doing is warping. Especially when you try and run the vacuum for longer periods of time the brush roll heats up and warps. That warped brush roll eventually turns into a catching brush roll that catching brush roll soon turns into a stopped brush roll which then ends up a melted brush roll. This vacuum has a clear plastic front so you can see brush roll activity, but guess what very quickly happens to that clear plastic as dirt and dust is whizzed past it at high speeds... it becomes not so clear only showing dirt and muck that you really don't want to be staring at every time you get your vacuum out to clean.

This vacuum isn't the worst thing out there by a long shot, but just not one of my favorites. If you're looking for a vacuum for a smaller apartment that is light weight does a decent job of picking up and doesn't need to clean large areas this is a great vacuum for you. The combination of upright vacuum with the attached hose makes it great for smaller areas when you don't want multiple vacuum cleaners lying around in storage. Anything larger than a medium sized apartment I wouldn't suggest this vacuum for.

The UH70210 is a Residential vacuum designed for use in the Residential environment. I have reviewed it accordingly, the price point of the UH70210 is set for the Residential industry which should be taken into consideration when purchasing or thinking about purchasing this vacuum. Commercial vacuum cleaners may be built to last longer and endure more abuse, but are more expensive and may be lacking some of the luxuries (such as light weight, or low noise) that you are accustomed to. On the contrary Residential vacuums are made at lower price points, lower quality, but are often lighter and quieter to use. Please feel free to add your own perspective of the Hoover WindTunnel T-Series Pet Rewind Plus Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Review.
